Projector Technology Keeping Up with the Flat Screens

Flat screens televisions have taken the world by storm in the past 5 years and to some extent LCD flat screen televisions have blunted the phenomenal growth the projector industry has experienced during that same time period. However, a stunning new piece of projector technology from Sanyo has made it so that DLP and LCD projectors should be able to compete with LCD flat screens well into the future.

The projector technology that Sanyo has produced allows a user to project a 100 inch high-definition image onto any surface from only 23.6 inches away. Projector technology such as this will completely revolutionize projector industry. It will forever change mounting equipment and projector screen technology and it will move the projector industry to retool and re-imagine the ventilation systems on the DLP and LCD projectors.

The ability to place a projector directly below any surface instead of across from it, will make watching television and doing presentations a lot easier. The days of renting scaffolding at the local church to change a projector lamp or tinker with the projector may soon be coming to an end sometime next decade.

Now, in case you’re wondering where or when you can buy this projector, don’t get your hopes up too soon. The prototype model developed by Sanyo and unveiled in Japan recently is still in its impractical and developmental stage. For example, the projector is literally almost 8 feet wide and 2 feet tall and Sanyo would not release this weight of this mammoth beast of a machine. As well, Sanyo uses a laser light source, that while bright, does flicker and does not provide the steady, trusted image that the traditional UHP projector lamp does.
