The Infocus X2 – Good for Somethings.

I recently bought the Infocus X2 for my office presentations, which I usually have to run daily. I find that the picture is very bright (in high power mode) considering I only paid 800 or so dollars for the Infocus X2. The projector lamp that is inside the Infocus X2 is listed as a 200W SHP lamp ID# (SP-LAMP018) and I think that this is the reason for the bright image the projector produces. However, one complaint I have about the projector is that the fan is extremely noisy when it is running on high power mode. Sometimes, I find myself having to talk above the fan in order for my employees to hear what I am saying and this can be cumbersome sometimes in the early mornings. I try to run the presentations in low power mode in the winter when the sun hasn’t start filling the room, good thing I live in Canada! (Yes, that’s it, I love the cold and the really short days!). I run my projector through an S-Video cable, which works brilliantly for anything computer related, such as Microsoft Powerpoint presentations, which is what I mostly use it for. I have bought the projector home once for my daughter so that I could try to setup a Sony Playstation 2 game for her. The Infocus X2 ran smoothly for that, but I don’t think I would want to watch TV or any DVD’s with it. I’ll stick with my HDTV rear projection television for now. Other than that, I’ll just share a few specs with you. The lamp lasts for 3000 hours with 1600 ANSI lumens. The projector runs in 4:3 mode and is a DLP projector, not an LCD. I run all my presentations in 1024x768 pixel XGA and I cannot tell you how sharp the image is, really impressive. Overall, I think for $800 you are not going to find a projector that is better for the money, especially for office work and computer presentations. With that said, I don’t think I would recommend the projector for video games, television or DVD’s.
