The 3400MP: Light as a Feather, Easy as Dell.

One of our favorite entrepreneurs, Mr. Michael Dell, has introduced a new projector that is sure to turn some heads. It is called the Dell 3400MP and weigh less than 2.49 pounds, which makes it the only projector in the known technological universe to achieve such a feat. This DLP or Digital Light Processing projector is also extremely affordable, retailing for under $1398 USD.

Dell is extremely excited about this product and is targeting the “Sea-Tac, JFK, O’Hare one week, LAX, Dulles, McCarran the next” crowd. In other words, Dell is targeting the business grunt that is always on the move.

The projector itself, besides being extremely light-weight is pretty typical. The resolution is 1024x768 but comes with a function that will adapt to whatever resolution is required (assuming its not anything beyond what it is capable of). With that said, the projector lamp inside this beauty is actually really bright (1500 ANSI Lumens) considering the price of the overall unit. The brightness of the projector lamp allows for a stunning 2100:1 contrast ratio, which is awesome, considering the primary function of the 3400MP is boardroom presentations and not the ‘War of the Worlds’ in High Definition.

Shipped along with Dell 3400MP is a remote control with acceptable range capabilities, cables including S-Video and RYW component, a M1 to USB cord and an audio cable in case you want to blast MC Hammer’s ‘Can’t Touch This’ while your explaining your latest and greatest proposal (parachute pants optional).

Funny stuff aside, this projector is a fantastic value. I carried this projector around Vegas for a day in a backpack designed to carry a projector and I have to say that my ailing back enjoyed the experience. It was much better than the day my car broke down on the way to In-and-Out on Sahara and I had to lug my Sanyo PLV-Z2 all the way down to New York, New York because I only brought enough cash with me for a Double-Double. Now that was just silly. Take it easy.
